Act! 2012 CRM Support is Ending

In the fall of 2014 Act! 2012 was made obsolete or as they say in the software industry it is “sunset”. For those using Sage Act! 2012 here are the important aspects of this event to consider:

  1. Users no longer qualify for upgrade pricing. This means that you must pay for a new Act! license – which represents an increase of 35% – 50% depending upon whether you are using Pro or Premium. Attendees to our October 1 webinar were guaranteed and enjoyed our lowest Act! price of the year.
  2. Act! 2012 licenses are no longer be available for purchase after the sunset.
  3. Swiftpage (the manufacturer of Act!) no longer supports Act! 2012.  AspenTech will continue to support Act! 2012 and earlier versions.
  4. Act! 2012 not supported on Windows 8.
  5. Act! 2012 is not supported in the Microsoft Office 2013 suite.
  6. Act! 2012 is not supported on any server beyond Windows Server 2008 SP2.
  7. Staying on ACT! 2012 deprives you of all the benefits implemented since its release.  SEE THEM HERE.

Here are the key questions to answer regarding the Act! 2012 sunset and upgrading to Act! v17:

  • Are you willing to risk running your sales and marketing operation on unsupported software?
  • Will you need additional Act! 2012 licenses in the next year or so?
  • What is the likelihood that you will be upgrading any computer using Act! or of upgrading your server in the next year? Remember, everyone that accesses your Act! database must be on the same version of Act!
